I decided to create this blog after researching the Armenian Genocide following it’s 100 year anniversary this April. After learning about what happened to the Armenians, it seemed shocking that it wasn’t recognised wholeheartedly and looked into the reasons why. From here, I began to research more genocides around the world, both those officially recognised as ‘genocide’ and those that aren’t, in an attempt to find out why some genocides are recognised, and the role of politics in genocide recognition.
